about.

The Company:
Sprout Jewelry began with a single necklace, a sterling pendant sold to raise money for a local scholarship fund. What was supposed to be a small fund raiser grew in leaps and bounds, and within a few months, hundreds of necklaces were sold to customers around the world. The company expanded from that single necklace, creating a line of unique pieces that fused graceful, organic details with industrial, urban shapes. Today, Sprout pieces are easily recognizable for their incorporation of a variety of metals and bold accents.

The Artist:
Sprout Jewelry is created by NYC artist Krista DeJoseph. In her little studio near the East River, Krista finds inspiration in everything from the Manhattan skyline to the installations at the nearby Socrates Sculpture Park. Her love for jewelry began in elementary school, when she was given a pair of miniature fork and spoon earrings. She's been obsessed ever since. Krista is formally trained in metalsmithing and lost wax carving techniques, and also holds a Bachelors degree in English and a Masters in Public Administration.

Our Commitment to Social Responsibility:
Sprout Jewelry is committed to supporting the individuals and not-for-profit organizations who work to make our world a better place. Our company was born out of this belief when we created the “Koru” pendant to raise funds for the Kevin Maher Memorial Scholarship. This $1000 award is given annually to a student at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, located in New York City. Sprout also supports Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that assists low-income women by providing clothing, confidence and career development. Proceeds from the sale of our “Infinity” necklace go towards the River Cities affiliate of Dress for Success. Most recently, Sprout partnered with Girls Write Now, a New York City nonprofit that provides writing and mentoring services to inner city girls. Sprout has also made in-kind donations to nonprofits, such as the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network; and individuals, such as independent playwright Elana Gartner. Since 2006, Sprout Jewelry has given more than $5,000 in financial and in-kind contributions to local and national not-for-profit organizations.
